세종학당 ‘사이버한국어’ 교육과정 운영을 위한 표준 모형 개발 연구 (Research on the Development of a Standard Model for Operating the King Sejong Institute's Cyber Korean Language Curriculum)

초록

본 연구는 세종학당의 온라인 교육과정인 ‘사이버한국어’ 교육과정 운영을 위한 표준 모형의 개발 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 2020년과 2021년의 온라인 세종학당 교육과정의 시범 운영 결과 가운데 각 과정별(학습지원형, 강의지원형, 자가학습형) 이수율과 학습자 만족도를 분석하였다. 둘째, 세종학당 온라인 교육과정과 유사한 타 자국어 교육기관의 온라인 교육과정을 점검하였다. 셋째, 2020~2021년도 온라인 세종학당 교육과정의 시범 운영에 참여했던 운영진과 교원, 학습자들을 대상으로 하여 심층면담과 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 함의를 도출하였다. 첫째, 세 가지 과정 유형 중 이수율과 만족도가 낮은 자가학습형을 유지할지 논의가 필요하다. 둘째, 온라인 과정의 특성에 맞게 각 과정의 시수 및 기간의 조정이 필요하다. 셋째, 중급 단계 교재의 학습량과 수업 시수가 맞지 않아 학습자들이 충분한 학습 시간을 갖지 못하는 문제를 해결해야 한다. 넷째, 온라인 학습 시 이수해야 할 과정과 각 단계가 길어 학습자의 학습 지속성을 확보하는 데에 어려움이 있다. 이를 반영하여 본 연구에서는 ‘사이버한국어’ 교육과정 운영 표준 모형의 설계 원리를 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, ‘사이버한국어’ 교육과정의 교수ㆍ학습 유형을 현행 세 가지 유형에서 자가학습형을 제외한 두 가지 유형으로 재편한다. 둘째, 학습자의 성향과 학습 상황에 맞게 학습 기간을 선택할 수 있도록 교육과정의 변이형을 마련한다. 셋째, 중급 교재 및 콘텐츠의 학습량을 고려하여 강의 시수를 늘린다. 넷째, 온라인 교육과정의 현실에 맞게 학습 단계를 세분화하여 학습 지속성과 성취감을 높인다. 본 연구의 제안을 바탕으로 ‘사이버한국어’ 교육과정의 체계적, 표준적 운영에 대한 논의를 심화하고 나아가 세종학당 온라인 교육의 발전을 도모할 수 있을 것이다.

This study proposes a development plan for a standardized model for operating the "Cyber Korean" curriculum at Online King Sejong Institute. To achieve this, the study analyzed the completion rates and learner satisfaction of the pilot operation results of the Online King Sejong Institute curriculum in 2020 and 2021 for each course type ("learning support," "lecture support," "self-study"). Secondly, we examined online education curricula of other foreign language education institutions similar to King Sejong Institute's online curriculum. Thirdly, in-depth interviews and surveys were conducted with the management team, instructors, and learners who participated in the pilot operation of the Online King Sejong Institute curriculum from 2020 to 2021. As a result, the following implications were derived. First, there is a need to discuss whether to maintain the self-study type, which has low completion rates and satisfaction, among the three-course types. Second, it is necessary to adjust the number of hours and duration of each course according to the characteristics of online courses. Third, it is necessary to solve the problem that learners do not have sufficient learning time because the amount of learning and the number of class hours of intermediate-level textbooks do not match. Fourth, it is difficult to secure learners' continuity of learning due to the long process and each stage that must be completed during online learning. Reflecting this, this study proposes the design principles of the standardized model for the Cyber Korean education curriculum as follows: First, reorganize the types of the Cyber Korean curriculum into two types, excluding the self-study type from the current three types. Second, provide variations in the curriculum to allow learners to choose the learning duration according to their preferences and learning situations. Third, increase the class hours by considering the amount of learning of intermediate-level textbooks and contents. Fourth, enhance the sustainability of learning and a sense of achievement by subdividing the learning stages by the realities of online education. We expect to deepen the discussions on the systematic and standardized operation of the Cyber Korean curriculum and further promote the development of Online King Sejong Institute's education based on the proposals of this study.
