새터민 대학생의 학교생활 부적응 요인 연구 (The Study of the Academic Maladjustment of Sateomin(North Korean Defectors) College Students)

초록

Through the research of quantitative study of college life and academic maladjustment of the Sateomin college students, the goal of this study is to observe the phenomenon and the cause of the midway withdrawal of universities. Including college students, the number of Sateomin college students in December 2006 was 708 and it was 8% of total numbers of 9,706 of Sateomin. It is very distinguished that the study shows that many Sateomin college students, even students in well-known universities, have much higher tendencies of withdrawals of colleges. This can indicate that the causes of these incidents are the personal lack of commitment to the schools and psychiatric reasons; besides it is true that the current support system from government of South Korea is not ready to accept them. Colleges in South Korea accept sateomin students by drafting special selection, yet they do not pay attention to assist them to finish their studies safely. This study aims at examining the reality of withdrawal of Sateomin college students and the cause of withdrawal of schools. For the analysis of this study, simple random sampling was used with the aids of non-government organization that supports services for Sateomin. 97 Sateomin students in Seoul were attended to this survey. The factors of with drawing schools were individual's effort, the frequency of attendance, college score, supporting system, economic situation. 25% of attendances were out of school and 21% of students left for other countries. This result tell us that we need to grasp the academic problems of Satemin college students. Moreover, we need to develop more practical policies which aid successful continuation of studies and to provide the settlement services considering difficulties of adjustment of Sateomin college students.
