초록

Since the 1990s, ‘Student activity centered’ history teaching ex periences have been accumulated, and activity methods have been devised. New discoveries have been made about the educational effective ness inherent in history class activities.
The recent movement to explore the possibility of democratic history education through the innovations of teaching methods has been started in the face of the instrumentalization of history education which is symbolized by the ‘state textbooks.’ At the core of innovation is to establish students and learners as the subjects of learning. There are three backgrounds that have emphasized student-centered history teaching in history education. Classes are based on learner's interest and interest, historical characteristics, and demo cratic citizenship.
In history classes, various learner activities represented by the notion of 'doing history. Recently, there have been many cases of classroom instruction at the school site to combine class ideas student's subjective participation, such as learning community and flipped running The essence of 'doing history' is that students themselves produce historical knowledge, and historical writing is used in various ways and forms.
It is a historical lesson to face the attempt to nationalize the history textbooks and pay attention to the newness. Discussion-style history class is a representative measure for this, attracting the attention of many teachers, and examples applied in various ways are accumulating.
It is necessary to pay attention to examples of classes that combine democratic values such as peace, reconciliation, and human rights with historical controversy. These efforts will bring together the foundation of history teaching theory that contributes to the training of democratic citizens
