심연수 저작물 논란의 쟁점과 맹점 (Issues and blind spots in the controversy over Yeon-soo Shim's works)

초록

본 논문은 그동안 논란이 되어 왔던 심연수문학 연구와 『심연수 문학사료 전집』의 문제점을 밝히고자 하였다. 재만시인 심연수와 그의 문학을 연구하고 검증하는 과정에서 진실의 왜곡과 의미 과장을 우려하는 비판적 연구가 있었지만, 반대로 심연수문학에 대하여 윤동주급의 문학사적 위상, 혹은 근대기록물의 유산의 의미를 부여하려고 하는 긍정적 연구도 여전히 진행되고 있는 실정이다.
2018년 『심연수 문학사료 전집』 출간 이후 심연수문학 연구는 실증적 자료를 통한 연구에 박차를 가하게 되었다. 본 연구를 통해 심연수의 저작물 일부에서 심연수가 만주국의 정체성을 건국이념을 통해 널리 알리고자 했음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 『심연수 문학사료 전집』에서 편집 주체의 의도적 오류나 오기 또한 발견할 수 있었다. 편집 주체의 사소한 오류와 주석의 비전문성은 신진 연구자들에게 혼란을 줄 수 있기 때문에 항상 경계해야 할 것이다. 그리고 연구자들 또한 엄밀하게 연구 윤리를 준수하기를 촉구한다.
심연수의 몇몇의 글에서 친일 성향 논란의 가능성이 제기되는 글을 발견할 수 있다고 하여 그가 지닌 문학에 대한 애정 어린 시선, 열망을 폄훼할 수는 없을 것이다. 그렇다고 해서 그의 저작물을 왜곡하거나 과도하게 의미 부여를 해서도 안 될 것이다. 진실 호도와 사실 왜곡을 바로 잡지 않는 연구자들의 명확한 해명이 요구된다. 나아가 ‘행사’ 중심으로 이루어지는 연구가 아닌 철저한 검증 과정을 통하여 엄밀한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영어초록

In this paper, I tried to reveal the problems of Yeon-soo Shim literature research and The Complete Bibliography of Yeon-soo Shim’s Biographical, Literary, and Historical Data which have been controversial. In the process of researching and verifying Yeon-soo Shim, Korean poet resident abroad in Manchuria, and his literature, there were critical studies that concerned about distortion of truth and exaggeration of meaning. Conversely, positive studies that try to give Yeon-soo Shim’s literary status as Dong-joo Yoon’s level of literary history or the meaning of the legacy of modern records are still in progress.
The research on Yeon-soo Shim’s literature has been spurred by empirical data since the publication of The Complete Bibliography of Yeon-soo Shim’s Biographical, Literary, and Historical Data in 2018. Through this study, it was found that in some of Shim’s works, he tried to publicize the identity of Manchuria through the founding ideology. I was also able to find intentional errors or omissions by the editor of The Complete Bibliography of Yeon-soo Shim’s Biographical, Literary, and Historical Data. I think researchers should always be wary of minor errors in editors and non-professionalism in comments, which can confuse rising researchers. Accordingly, I urge the editors of The Complete Bibliography of Yeon-soo Shim’s Biographical, Literary, and Historical Data to reflect, and I demand that the research ethics of researchers should also be reflected with strictness.
Just because we can find articles that raise the possibility of pro-Japanese controversy in some of his writings, we cannot disparage his affectionate gaze and aspiration for literature. Therefore, in the study of Yeon-soo Shim Literature, we should not distort or give excessive meaning to his works. A clear explanation is required from researchers who mislead the truth and do not correct the distortion of fact. Furthermore, the study of Yeon-soo Shim literature should not be an event-oriented study, but rather a rigorous study that has undergone a through verification process.
