「申さる」에 관한 史的 考察10) -中古․ 中世의 物語를 중심으로- (The Historical Study on "the Mousaru" -Mainly on "Monogatari" of the Heian era and the Middle Ages times-)

초록

謙譲語「申す」に尊敬の助動詞「る」がついた「申さる」は、動作客体と 動作主体の両方への敬意を表わしていると言われてきた。これに比べて、現 代語の「申す」は謙譲語であるという規範意識が強まり、「申される」は誤用 であると言われている。しかし、「申す」は話や文章の相手に対する丁重な気 持ちを表す丁寧語と丁重語であるという研究結果も次々と発表されている。 本稿では、現代語「申される」の主体尊敬用法と関連して、「申さる」の用例がはじめに登場する中古と中世の物語７種から抽出した「申さる」の233 例を使用対象と使用状況などを中心に分析し、その意味用法を明らかにし た。考察結果は以下のとおりである。 中古․ 中世の物語に使われている「申さる」は、動作客体と動作主の両方 に敬意を表わしていると判断される用例が各々82%、91％であった。しか し、現代語のように動作主体に対して敬意を表わしていると判断される用例 は各々12%、8%もあった。具体的には、中古の物語では話し手より動作主で ある聞き手が上位者である場合に使われている「申さる」は主体尊敬である と考えられる。また、中世の物語では話し手より動作主である聞き手が上位 者である場合だけではなく、動作客体が明確ではない場合と動作客体が事物 である場合に使われている「申さる」も主体尊敬であると考えられる。最後 に、「申さる」が受動の意味として使われている用例は各々6%、1%であっ た。この場合、「申す」は「言う」の丁重語として聞き手に対する敬意を表 わしているし、助動詞「る」は受動の意味であると考えられる。

영어초록

“Mousu” in a modern language is strongly known in standard as the honorific word but results of researches have been continually announced that it also has the meanings of main operation and operation object. Further, “Mousareru” is treated as a respect to the subject of the movement as well.
This paper relates to the usage of respect of the subject of the movement of the modern word “Mousareu” and analyzes around the 233 examples of situations and subjects of the usage for “Mousaru” that has been extracted from 7 types of “Monogatari” that was classic in the Heian-Period and the Middle Ages where the first usage example of “Mousaru” appeared. The result of discussion is as follows.
“Mousaru” that was used in “Monogatari” of the Heian-Period and the Middle Ages have been showing an overwhelming figure of 82% and 91% respectfully to the determining usage that proves where “Mousaru” pays respect for both the action object and the subject of the movement. However, similar to the modern word, an example that can be determined as a respect toward the subject of the movement was 12% and 8 % respectfully. Specifically, “Monogatari” of the Heian -Period where “Mousaru” is used in a situation where the subject of the movement is a listener and the upper person compared to the narrator was able to be determined as a respect for the subject of the movement. Additionally, when the subject, the action object is not clear or when the action object is an object, the “Mousaru” can be determined to be used as a respect for the subject of the movement. Lastly, the example of “Mousaru” used passively was 6% and 1% respectively. In such case, “Mousu” represents a respect for the audience as polite word “say” while the auxiliary verb “Ru” is considered to have a passive meaning.
