경성부 남대문통과 태평통의 이층한옥상가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Two-Story Commercial Hanok in Namdaemunno and Taepyoungro, during 1910~30’s)

초록

This study aims at clarifying the character of Namdaemunno(南大門路) and Taepyoungro(太平路) during 1910~30's, and retracing the properties of two-story commercial Hanok on that area. By the research, there would be two conclusions.
First, Namdaemunno and Taepyoungro were main roads of Seoul, but there were different urbanizing aspects between two areas. Namdaemunno, a traditional commercial street consisting of Si-Jon(市廛), developed into modern landscape affected by Japanese district which neighbored Namdaemunno. However, Taepyoungro which was constructed in 1912 was a newly formed urban space, contributing to the convenience of Japanese people. Theses differences were shown through the building types and the rates of landowners’ nationalities.
On the other hand, two-story commercial Hanoks on those two areas can be divided into two types. One is the building type that was constructed using traditional wooden structure, and it commonly had a balustrade on its elevation. The other is the building type that was built with new building structure and material from 1910’s. Harmonizing with existing Hanoks, These two types of two-story hanoks had made new streetscape in Seoul.
