미술 활동에 나타나는 ‘몸의 미적 지각’의 본질 특성과 의미에 관한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Essential Characteristics and Meaning of Aesthetic Perception of the Body in Art Activities)

초록

본 연구는 자연스러운 미술 활동에서 드러나는 ‘몸의 미적 지각’이 어떤 본질 특성을가지는지, 그리고 그 의미가 무엇인지를 현상학적 질적 연구를 통해 본 것이다. 미적지각을 하나의 ‘몸의 지각 경험’으로 탐구하고 미술 활동 과정에 나타나는 그대로의 현상을 통해 특성과 의미를 탐색하였다. 중심 연구 주제는 첫째, 미술 활동에서의 ‘미적지각’과 ‘몸’, ‘몸의 감각’과의 연관성은 어떠한가? 둘째, 미술 활동에 나타나는 ‘몸의 미적 지각’은 어떠한 양상으로 드러나며 그 본질 특성은 무엇인가? 셋째, 드러난 본질 특성들은 어떤 관계적 의미구조를 가지는가? 로 정하였다. 연구는 미술 개념의 영향력이적은 초등 저학년 5명의 자발적 미술 활동을 1년 3개월에 걸쳐 자료로 수집하여 지오르기(Giorgi)의 현상학적 질적 탐구 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구 주제는 다음과 같이해결되었다. 첫째, 미적 지각의 주체는 몸이며, 미적 지각은 몸의 지향을 통해 미적 대상과 몸의 감각 활동을 경험하는 가운데 현상한다. 따라서 의식을 적용하기보다 이에앞서 몸의 감각함 속에서 미적 지각이 현상한다. 둘째, 미적 지각은 1) 미적 대상을향한 몸의 지향 2) 상상력의 작동과 현행(現行)하는 자아의 실존감(實存感) 3) 시각장(場)에 소여(所與)된 개인 경험의 출현 4) 스며있는 질성(質性)에 대한 복합적 공감각(共感覺) 5) 미적 대상과 관계하는 브리꼴뢰르(bricoleur) 6) 보이지 않는 힘과기운의 흐름 7) 감각, 느낌, 사고의 지속적인 생성과 변형 운동이라는 본질 특성을 드러낸다. 셋째, 7개 본질 특성들은 비의도적 융합과 변형 속에서 개인적 차원의 존재론적 구성을 겪으며 미적 지각을 다변화 한다. 본 연구자는 ‘미적 지각’이 ‘인간과 미적대상과의 존재적 관계 맺음’ 현상이며 ‘세계 속에 있는 미적 대상의 심층적인 특성을과거의 지평을 포함한 내 몸의 직접적 지향을 통해 감각함으로써 미적 대상과 교감하며 의미를 찾아가는 행위’로서 ‘미적 대상의 미적인 것에 대한 몸의 질적 경험’이라고개념화하였다.

영어초록

This study aims to explore essential characteristics and relationalmeaning that ‘Aesthetic Perception of the Body’, embodied in the artactivities, possesses through phenomenological qualitative research.
Specific subject of research is; first, what is the relationship among‘body’, ‘senses of body’ and ‘aesthetic perception’ in art activities; second,in what appearance does ‘aesthetic perception of the body’ reveal itself inart activities and how can the essential characteristic be established?;third, in what relational structure of meaning does ‘aesthetic perceptionof body’ express itself in art activities? For actual study, researchmaterials regarding children's art activities were widely collected andanalyzed with Giorgi's phenomenological qualitative research method.
The subject of this study was settled as follows; First, aestheticperception is actualized as we experiences body's sensory activities whichopens interaction with aesthetic objects through the orientation of body.
Thus, aesthetic objects are not interpreted by applying consciousness,but aesthetic perception exists in the sense of body before consciousness.
Second, essential characteristics of aesthetic perception were found asfollows: 1) body's intentionality towards aesthetic objects. 2) activationof imagination and on-going sense of real existence of ego. 3) emergenceof personal experience given to the place where sight is being made. 4)complex synesthesia toward pervasive quality properties. 5) a bricoleurrelated with aesthetic objects 6) flow of invisible force and energy. 7)everlasting generation and transformation of senses, feelings andthoughts. Third, essential characteristics detect constant transformationand creation of force and energy formed between the existence ofaesthetic objects and ego. These essential characteristics revealthemselves unconsciously in art activities. Learners complete their worksexperiencing existential construction, where essential characteristicsentangle in various manner, and reveal their sensational experiences.
Going a step further beyond this study result, Aesthetic perception isnewly conceptualized as a phenomenon of ‘establishing an existentialrelationship between a human being and aesthetic objects’ and as ‘body’squalitative experience of what is aesthetic of aesthetic objects, a behaviorof communicating with and feeling the meaning of aesthetic objects bysensing deep characteristics of aesthetic objects in the world throughdirect orientation of body including past horizon’.
