코로나19 환경에서 직업상담사의 비대면상담 경험에 대한 합의적 질적연구 (A Consensual Qualitative Research on the Non-face-to-face Counseling Experience of Vocational Counselors in the COVID-19 Environment)

초록

본 연구는 코로나19라는 비예측적인 상황에서 직업상담사들이 비대면 방식으로 상담을 전환하면서 경험하는 다양한 어려움과 시행착오를 통해 상담사의 역할에 대한 성찰과 적응 과정을 분석하는데 그 목적을 갖는다. 직업상담사의 경험을 통해 비대면상담이 직업상담에서 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 방식과 이를 위한 직업상담사가 갖춰야 하는 역량에 대해 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이 연구목적을 위해 비대면직업상담을 경험한 11명의 직업상담사를 연구참여자로 선정하여 심층면담을 진행하였다. 면담내용을 합의적 질적연구방법(CQR)으로 분석하였으며, 3개의 영역과 8개의 범주 및 24개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 첫 번째 영역은 ‘변화된 상담환경에 적응하기’로 하위범주는 ‘익숙하지 않은 상담환경을 마주함’, ‘ 비대면상담에 대한 우려와 기대’, ‘비대면상담을 수용하는 내담자의 적응’ 등으로 분석되었다. 두 번째 영역은 ‘비대면상담 과정에서 새로운 길 찾기’로 하위범주는 ‘익숙했던 직업상담의 절차를 적용하지 못함’, ‘직업상담사의 역할과 직무에 대한 성찰’, ‘상담장면으로 내담자를 이끌어내기 위한 노력’ 등이 도출되었다. 세 번째 영역은 ‘비대면 환경에서 직업상담의 방향성 찾기’로 하위범주는 ‘비대면상담에서 필요한 상담사의 역량 인식’, ‘비대면상담에 대한 평가 및 활용’ 등으로 설정되었다. 직업상담사들은 갑작스럽게 변화된 상담환경을 마주했음에도 적응하기 위한 방법을 찾아내려고 각고의 노력을 기울였다. 상담과정에서 기존에 적용하던 상담절차가 생략되는 어려움에 직면했으며 비대면 상담에서 상담자와 내담자가 어떻게 상호작용을 통해 문제를 해결해야 하는지 고민하면서 대안적 방법을 탐색하였다. 향후 비대면직업상담에서 필요한 상담자의 전문적 역량에 대한 인식을 토대로 심리상담과 차별적으로 직업상담에서 직업정보를 다루는 것이 중요한 과제임을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 기반으로 비대면직업상담에 대한 의의와 시사점을 제시하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze reflect and adaptation process of the role of vocational counselors through various difficulties and trial and error that the counselors have experienced in non-face-to-face counseling converted from face-to-face by facing the unpredicted situation called COVID-19. This study was carried out to explore efficient application methods in non-face-to-face counseling and competencies that the counselors must have for the methods from their experiences. To accomplish the purpose of this study, 11 vocational counselors, experienced non-face-to-face counseling, participated in the in-depth interview. The interviews were analyzed by Consensual Qualitative Research(CQR), and 3 domains and 8 categories, and 24 subcategories were derived. First, the categories of 'facing unfamiliar counseling environment', 'concerns and expectation about non-face-to-face counseling', and 'adaptation of clients to non-face-to-face counseling' were appeared in the domain of 'adapting to the changed counseling environment'. The second domain was 'finding new methods in non-face-to-face counseling process', and it derived the following categories: 'failed to apply the familiar counseling procedures'; 'reflect on the role and job of the vocational counselors'; and 'efforts to lead clients into the counseling scene'. The third domain was 'finding the direction of vocational counseling in a non-face-to-face environment', and the subcategories were set as 'recognition of the competence of counselors necessary for non-face-to-face counseling' and 'evaluation and utilization of non-face-to-face counseling'. Vocational counselors made great efforts to find a way to adapt even though they faced a sudden change in the counseling environment. In the counseling process, the existing counseling procedure was faced with the difficulty of omitting, and alternative methods were explored through consideration of how counselors and clients interact and move forward to solve problems in non-face-to-face counseling. Based on the recognition of professional competencies of counselors in non-face-to-face vocational counseling, it was confirmed that it is an important task to deal with vocational information in vocational counseling. Through the results of this study, the significance and implications of non-face-to-face vocational counseling were presented.
