松菊里型 住居址의 構造變化에 대한 試論 (A Study on the Structural Change of the Songgungni-type Dwelling)

초록

주지하다시피 송국리형 주거지의 중앙에서는 타원형구덩이와 중심주공(내·외주공), 4주 등이 발견되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 내부시설이 2개 이상 중복 혹은 조합되면서 복잡한 구조를 이루는 예가 다소 발견되고 있어, 기본적인 주거유형과 차이를 보이고 있다. 이에 이러한 구조적 변화를 보이는 주거를 변화유형으로 간주하고 각 유형의 구조적인 양상을 파악하고자 한다.
송국리형 주거의 변화유형에는 개축형, 증축·확장형, 보강형, 생략형으로 나눌 수 있다.
개축형과 생략형은 면적의 변화없이 한 주거지 내에서 이루어지는 변화유형이다. 개축형은 타원형구덩이가 재사용되거나 다시 만들어지면서 상부구조를 변화시키는 주거유형이며, 생략형은 전통적으로 설치되던 타원형구덩이가 소멸되는 주거유형이다. 이런 점에서 생략형 주거의 시간적 위치는 상대적으로 늦을 것으로 추정된다. 주거의 개축과 내부시설의 생략은 주로 중·소형 주거에서 많이 나타나고 있다.
증축·확장형은 주거의 면적확장과 관련된 유형으로 2개 이상의 기본유형이 조합된 건물이다. 따라서 외견상 규모가 매우 크며 많은 인원을 수용할 수 있는 특성을 지닌다.
보강형은 건축구조상의 커다란 변화라기보다는 종도리나 주심도리를 안정적으로 지탱하기 위해 보강주를 설치하는 주거형태이다. 따라서 주거의 보강이라는 측면을 내포하고 있다. 다만 4주가 설치된 주거에서 나타나는 보강형 주거는 증축·확장형 주거의 면적과 대동소이하고 다른 유형의 4주식 주거 면적보다 크기 때문에 주거의 면적확장과 연관된 것으로 생각된다.
장방형 혹은 세장방형 주거지의 확장은 횡적인 확장을 의미하지만 송국리형 주거지에서의 확장은 면적의 확장 뿐만 아니라 기본구조의 결합에 의한 건축구조의 변화를 의미한다. 따라서 송국리형 주거의 확장은 또다른 건축형식을 의미할 수도 있겠으나 근본적으로는 기본형의 조합이면서 변화·발전된 주거로 해석할 수 있다. 특히 증축·확장형과 보강형 등 상대적으로 면적이 큰 주거는 농경문화의 발전과 함께 전문적인 장인집단의 형성과도 깊은 관련이 있을 것으로 추정된다.

영어초록

Customarily, the Songgungni-type dwelling has an oval hollow and post holes in the center of the dwelling and sometimes four additional posts. However, some examples of the complex structure which these internal facilities are mixed with can be observed and differ somewhat from the basic dwelling type. I would like to discuss these types of dwellings as ‘the transformed types’
The structural change of the Songgungni-type dwelling can be divided into some changes: rebuilding type, extension/expansion type, reinforcement type, and omission type.
Rebuilding type and omission type are the transformed types which are made in a dwelling without a change in the size. The former changes the upper structure by reusing or remaking the oval hollow or central posts. The latter means the dwelling which doesn’t have the oval hollow established traditionally. In this point, the time period of the omission dwelling is assumed to be in the relatively late period . The rebuilding of the dwelling and the omission of the internal facility are considered to be a phenomenons which appear in a middle or small type dwelling. While big scale dwellings were built strongly and permanently, it is thought that the life of the small type dwelling was relatively short.
Extension/expansion type related to the area expansion of the dwelling is the building that mixes more than two basic type of buildings. Therefore, this type is very big in appearance and can accomodate many people.
The reinforcement type establishes the reinforcement post to hold central cross beam or outside cross beams safely rather than accomplishing big changes in the architectural structure so it means the reinforcement of the dwelling. But the reinforcement type dwelling which is shown in type ② is considered to be related to the area expansion because it is almost identical to the area of the extension/expansion type dwelling and bigger than the size of other type ②.
The expansion of the rectangular or narrow rectangular dwelling means horizontal expansion, but the expansion of the Songgungni-type dwelling means a change in the architectural structure by combining a basic structure as well as expanding the area. Therefore, the expansion of the Songgungni-type dwelling could be the new or another type of the architecture but fundamentally it could be the changed and developed dwelling. It also could be considered a variation of the basic type. Especially, extension/expansion type and reinforcement type which have a relatively large area are assumed to have a deep relationship with the formation of the expert artisan group and development of the agriculture.
In conclusion, because the structural change of the Songgungni-type dwelling is considered to be due to the adaptation to the residential environment, ecological factors, and the development of human technical power, the dwellers of the Songgungni-type who have lived in the southern area for hundreds of years may devise and adapt slightly different architectural techniques in reference to the areas in the common architecture culture. Therefore, the discovery of the various transformed types are considered proof showing the active and adaptational way of the Songgungni-type dwellers.
