초록

This thesis begins with the recognition that a TCF (temporary construction fence) plays an important role in forming the image of a city. As a research subject, the TCF construction around Kangnam main roads, where intense development has been occurred, was selected and its present situation and problems were identified through an actual condition report and survey method. Moreover a preference survey was conducted among the citizens. Correlation analyses between citizen preferences and composition factors of TCF, and preference factor analysis were used for the research.
The research results are as follows: The particular TCFs studied are built with various composite factors, especially decorative functions. These functions are gaining more importance as diverse publicity methods are applied to TCFs. The theme in the TCF design lies mainly in eco-friendly content whose variety is very limited. In every Case, a company’s logo and emblem is found and their sizes tend to increase.
A TCF with commercial composition such as a company’s logo and emblem, is not preferred. For the preference factors analysis, a multiple linear regression model with a stepwise mode using “Preferences” was facilitated as a dependent variable. “Graphic Distinctiveness” is the most important factor while “Factor Harmonization” is the least popular. Distinctively designed TCFs with various forms should be set up rather than ones with simple and basic designs. It is also clear that the composite factors of TCFs should harmonize with one another.
Based on the research, three main problems can be summarized. First, the graphic theme of TCFs are not clarified enough to entertain pedestrians. Second, the composite factors are not organized in harmony.
