맏딸이자 중년 기혼여성의 정체성에 관한 질적연구 (The qualitative study on the identity of the eldest daughter and middle-aged married woman)

초록

목적 본 연구는 맏딸이자 중년 기혼여성의 정체성에 관한 질적 연구로써 이들의 정체성은 무엇이며, 이들의 정체성은 어떤 영향을받았고, 그리고 이들의 정체성은 저들의 삶에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지를 알아보기 위한 것이다.
방법 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 맏딸이면서 중년 기혼여성 12명을 선정하여 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 심층인터뷰를 통해 수집된진술은 연구 참여자의 체험을 있는 그대로 이해하려고 노력하는 질적 연구방법의 하나인 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구 방법을 활용하여6단계에 거쳐 연구 참여자들의 인터뷰 자료를 분석하고 연구하였다.
결과 12명의 연구 참여자들로부터 인터뷰한 자료를 분석한 결과, 482개의 의미 있는 진술이 도출되었고, 이를 다시 정리한 결과57개의 주요 코드를 작성하게 되었다. 그리고 코드별로 범주화하여 23개의 하위 범주를 구성하였고, 최종적으로 8개의 상위범주로통합하였다. 그러므로 연구 참여자들이 가진 정체성은 첫째, ‘책임감’의 정체성으로 부모와 가족에 대한 책임감이었다. 둘째, ‘관계적과제를 가진’ 정체성으로 부모와 소통 및 정서적 교감의 부재에 기인하며, 셋째, ‘심리적 과제를 가진’ 정체성으로 자존감 결여나 감정표현의 미숙에 기인한 긍정적이지 못한 정체성으로 볼 수 있다. 넷째, ‘자아실현을 이루는’ 정체성으로 자기 삶에 대한 자각으로 깨달음을 갖고 자율적인 생활을 추구하고, 보람과 행복한 생활을 만들고 유지하는 정체성이었다.
결론 연구 참여자들을 대상으로 분석한 결과에서 이들이 가진 정체성은 ‘책임감’, ‘관계적 과제를 가진’, ‘심리적 과제를 가진’, 그리고‘자아실현을 이루는’ 등의 네 가지로 분류할 수 있다. 다음으로 이들이 가진 정체성 중에는 부모와의 긍정적 혹은 부정적 관계에 기반을 두고 있었다. 그리고 이들이 가진 정체성은 이들의 역할과 삶에 직, 간접적으로 영향을 미쳐 긍정적 혹은 부정적 경험을 만들고유지하도록 하였다.

영어초록

Objectives This study is a qualitative study on the identity of the eldest daughter and middle-aged married women to find out what their identities are, how their identities have been affected, and how their identities are affecting their lives.
Methods To this end, in this study, 12 middle-aged married women as the eldest daughter were selected and an in-depth interview was conducted. The statements collected through in-depth interviews were analyzed and studied through six stages using Colaizzi's phenomenological research method, one of the qualitative research methods to understand the experience of research participants as they are.
Results As a result of analyzing the data interviewed by 12 study participants, 482 meaningful statements were derived, and as a result of reorganizing them, 57 major codes were written. And 23 subcategories were categorized by code, and finally integrated into 8 upper categories. Therefore, the identity of the study participants was, first, the identity of ‘responsibility’ and the responsibility for parents and family. Second, it is due to the lack of communication and emotional communication with parents with a ‘relational task’ identity, and third, it can be seen as an “identity with psychological tasks” that is not positive due to lack of self-esteem or inexperience in emotional expression. Fourth, it was an identity that pursued an autonomous life with awareness of one's life, created and maintained a rewarding and happy life with an “identity that achieves self-realization.” Conclusions In the results of the analysis of the study participants, their identities can be classified into four categories: “responsibility,” “with relational tasks,” “with psychological tasks,” and “achieve self-realization.” Next, among their identities, they were based on positive or negative relationships with their parents. And their identity directly or indirectly influenced their roles and lives to create and maintain positive or negative experiences.
