냉전의 시인들 -박인환과 김수영의 ‘전후’ 인식과 문학- (Poets of the Cold War -'Postwar' Perception and Literature by Park In-hwanand Kim Soo-young-)

초록

이 글은 한국전쟁으로 인해 초래된 이데올로기적, 제도적, 심미적 특징과 변화가 개인 혹은 집단의 사고와 표현으로 반영된 결과를 ‘전후’ 관념으로 이해하고 박인환과 김수영의 전후 인식을 살핀 것이다. 박인환과 김수영의 사례처럼 ‘국민’(nation: 군인, 정훈국 소속 문인)과 ‘난민’(refugee: 포로, 피난민)으로서 한국전쟁을 체험한 세대가 1950년대 이후 표출한 전후 인식을 살폈다. 한국전쟁 체험은 파편화된 이미지뿐 아니라 압축적인 원체험을 통해 드러난다. 두 시인에게 있어 한국전쟁의 원체험은 여전히 중요하게 반복되거나 그것이 다른 역사적, 문화적 경험으로 전유되어 나타난다.
박인환의 경우 종군하며 경험한 전쟁의 참상을 어떤 식으로든 굴절, 변용시키려는 불연속적이고 분열된 주체성의 표현이 전후문학에서 확인된다. 그에 따라 미국 표상을 통해 냉전 경험을 자기화하는 일련의 문학활동에 주목해 박인환의 번역소설 『이별』을 고찰했다. 김수영은 민족문학의 관점에서 벗어나 현실정치와 분단현실에 대해 날카로운 통찰과 문학을 보여준 시인이다. 이 저력은 학병세대, 전후세대, 4․19세대의 문학으로서 여러 차례 논증되어 왔다. 한국전쟁의 문학사적 의미와 내셔널리즘의 비평적 탐색을 충분히 고려하되 이들 시인에게서 나타나는 세계성과 현대성의 인식을 ‘전후’ 인식의 산물로서 살폈다. 전후 한국의 지식과 사상, 교양의 거시적 패러다임 속에서 한국전쟁 체험은 세대론적 시각에 제한을 두기보다 한국사회에 지속된 정치적 문제나 이념적 한계와 연접된 복합적인 인식으로 새롭게 이해되어야 한다. 이른바 ‘냉전의 시인들’의 이념적, 시론적, 시문학사적 성격이 재구성되는 역사적 과정은 앞으로도 더 심도 있게 쟁점화할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This article examines the post-war perceptions of Park In-hwan and Kim Soo-young through the concept of 'post-war', which refers to the ideological, institutional, and aesthetic features and changes brought about by the Korean War that are reflected in individual or collective thought and expression. In the case of Park In-hwan and Kim Soo-young, I examined the postwar perceptions expressed since the 1950s by generations who experienced the Korean War as 'nation' (soldiers, literary figures belonging to the Chunghoonkuk) and 'refugee' (POWs, refugees). The Korean War experience is represented not only through fragmented images but also through compressed original experiences. The original experience of the Korean War is still importantly repeated or appropriated by other historical and cultural experiences. Starting from the Korean War, self-narrative literary texts refer to any literary production that is linked to the task of casting an ideological or social identity or identity that was urgently requested of each poet, and furthermore, to the task of elevating it to the poetic task of the generation or the achievement of Korean poetic history.
'Postwar' was a symbolic sign that replaced 'post-liberation' at least until the mid-1960s as a way to examine the political, economic, and cultural status of the new nation. The usage of postwar as 'postwar=after the Korean War' is indicative of the first Korean perception of the postcolonial and Cold War. From the late 1960s onwards, with the rise of critical intellectual discourse and generational theory, the issue of historical interpretation became important, and a generational theory centered on historical experience emerged in literature, creating the category of postwar literature that refers to the Korean War experience. This article identifies postwar perceptions as the ways in which literary figures who experienced the Korean War were generationalized, breaking away from the conditions of the war generation, such as age, enlistment period, and military history, and the ways in which they disconnected, transformed, and appropriated the experiences and memories of the Korean War.
