한국인 학습자의 중국어‘A+地+V’,‘V+得+A’구문 사용에 대한 코퍼스 기반 분석 (A Corpus-based Analysis of the Use of Chinese Structure ‘A+de+V’ and ‘V+de+A’ by Korean Learners)

초록

본 연구는 한국인 학습자의 중국어 구문 ‘A+(地)+V’, ‘V+得+A’ 습득 양상에 관한 연구이다. 이 두 구조는 한국어에서 하나의 구조로 대응되기 때문에, 중국어를 제2언어로 배우는 학습자들은 어떤 상황에서 ‘A+(地)+V’ 구조를 선택하고 어떤 상황에서 ‘V+得+A’ 구조를 선택해야 하는지 어려워하고, 이를 학습상의 난점으로 인식한다. 본 연구는 제2언어 습득이론과 중간 언어의 각도에서 30만자 분량의 학습자 및 모국어화자의 구어 데이터를 자료로 한 학습자코퍼스와 모국어화자코퍼스를 개발하고, 이를 바탕으로 ‘A+(地)+V’, ‘V+得+A’구조에 대한 사용 상황 및 습득 양상을 고찰하였다.
연구 결과에 따르면, 학습자들은 모국어와 유사한 형식인 ‘A+(地)+V’ 구조는 쉽게 습득하였으나, ‘V+得+A’ 구조는 사용을 회피하거나 오류를 범하는 양상을 보였다. 이 두 구조는 형용사가 [+방식] 또는 [+결과]의 의미를 나타내는지, 또 서술어가 [+묘사성] 또는 [+평가성]을 나타내는지에 따라 그 통사적 구조의 선택이 달라진다. 따라서 이때 발생하는 오류는 학습자가 해당 구조에 출현하는 서술어와 형용사의 유형 및 특징을 정확히 이해하지 못하고 사용했기 때문에 나타난 것으로 보인다. 중국어는 시간순서 원칙에 부합하는 언어로서 해당 원칙은 ‘A+(地)+V’, ‘V+得+A’ 구조의 선택 기제로도 작용하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

영어초록

The results of this research can be summarized in two aspects: use of vocabulary and use of structures. First, the learners analyzed in this research commanded roughly half of the vocabulary of the native speaker used by the native speaker. In addition, they used approximately two thirds of the adjective types used by the native speaker. Though the level of their Chinese is intermediate or higher, the learners' vocabulary showed a considerable difference from that of native speakers when compared based on the same volume of corpus.
Second, of the two sentence structures, ‘A+de+V’ and ‘V+de+A,' the learners more frequently used the ‘A+de+V’ structure which is similar to a structure found in their first language. This is in line with the expectation that learners would easily acquire a sentence structure if such a structure exists in their own language, and this phenomenon is attributable to positive transfer of native language.
Third, the learners demonstrated a rather limited use of the ‘V+de+A’ structure. They had a tendency to use a structure where a few particular adjectives and predicates were combined, and the number of adjectives they used in the structure was also very limited. In short, the learners had little trouble acquiring the ‘A+de+V’ structure where sentence elements are arranged in the same way as in their native tongue, whereas they tended to avoid the ‘V+de+A’ structure whose equivalent structure does not exist in their native language.
Research on interlanguage is often conducted with a limited collection of individual utterances of students that the teacher experienced. On the other hand, learner corpus-based research can be valuable in that it enables more realistic identification of the interlanguage of learners and it could also systematically provide a wide range of information on the learner's usage of the language in question. More effective second language teaching and learning would be possible if the characteristics of the learner's interlanguage are objectively and systematically identified based on quantitative analysis of realistic data and if this helps the teacher understand the necessity and importance of differentiated approaches depending on the language being taught. In this regard, corpus-based teaching and research has various implications for us.
