초록

This dissertation is a study about the mentality of theHuksukdong local community and its residents. As part of 〈Thestudy and plan of a Local culture) project.
Huksukdong area is about to be redeveloped and renovated as aNew town. The current area remains in keeping with their old styletraditional village. This area is slowly being redeveloped comparedwith other areas. Early discussions about the redevelopment weremet with no to very little resistant from the local residents. Eventhough the residents are from mid-low class backgrounds there wasno opposition or protests against the redevelopment plans. Even inthe past, there has been no protesting from the local communitymovement or the impoverished people movement.
Such being the cases, this is a summary of the mentality of the residents in Huksukdong area and its local community.
First : There was no requirement for a local communitymovement during the democratic revolution era due to theHuksukdong residents having autogenic financial support fromChungang University.
Second : Huksukdong residents don't have a consistent identity.
This is a contributing factor why people adapt easily to the areawhen moving to Huksukdong for the first time.
Third : there are no definite distinctions between public andprivate areas in Huksukdong.
Fourth : There are several friendly social groups whom meet, butare not connected in any way as a community.
