南韓地域 粘土帶土器의 登場과 擴散過程 (The Advent and Spread of Clay-Stripe Pottery Across South Korea)

초록

본고는 남한 전 지역을 대상으로 점토대토기의 등장과 확산과정을 살펴보고자 작성된 것이다. 이를 위하여 점토대토기를 대표하는 발형 점토대토기를 형식분류하였다. 먼저 구연부의 단면 형태에 따라 원형과 삼각형으로 크게 구분하고 동체부에서 구연부로 이어지는 모습과 점토대 부착방법에 따라 5개 형식으로 세분하였다. 그리고 저부는 굽과 토기 안쪽 바닥의 형태에 따라 3개 형식으로 세분하였다. 이를 조합하여 원형점토대토기는 9개 형식, 삼각형점토대토기는 11개 형식으로 구분하고 연속형 속성 및 공반관계를 통해서 형식분류의 타당성을 검토하였다.
점토대토기는 새로운 양식의 등장과 소멸을 기준으로 4기로 구분할 수 있다. Ⅰ기는 점토대토기가 유입되는 시기로 연대는 서기전 4세기 후반~서기전 3세기 후반이다. Ⅱ기는 원형점토대토기가 점차 확산되는 시기로 동해안과 남해안에서도 유적이 등장하며 삼각형점토대토기가 Ⅱ기 말에 등장한다. 연대는 서기전 3세기 말~서기전 2세기 후반이다. Ⅲ기는 점토대토기가 남한 전 지역으로 확산되는 시기로 연대는 서기전 2세기 말~서기전 1세기 중엽이다. Ⅳ기는 원형점토대토기가 점차 소멸되는 시기로 원형점토대토기는 삼각형점토대토기가 등장하지 않은 지역에서 주로 확인되며 삼각형점토대토기는 홑구연화되는 경향을 보인다. 연대는 서기전 1세기 중엽~서력기원전후이다. 따라서 남한지역에서 점토대토기는 일정한 변천양상을 보이는데, 이것은 점토대토기가 한강·금강유역으로 들어와 정착한 후 남한 전 지역으로 재파급되는 것과 관련된 것으로 이해된다.

영어초록

This study examines the morphological change of clay-stripe pottery in South Korea. The clay-stripe pottery is generally divided into a round type (Type A) and a triangular type (Type B) based on the shape of vertical section of the pottery rim. The vertical shape of the rim therefore is considered the primary criterion in the current classification. In addition, the shape of the rim can be divided into three types: a, b, and c. Type b of the triangular clay-stripe pottery is further divided into types b' and b". The bottom of the pottery is classified into types 1, 2 and 3. The morphological transformation of the clay-stripe pottery is assigned to four archaeological periods:The first period is when the clay-stripe pottery was first introduced. The date is estimated to be between the late fourth and the late third century B.C. The pottery of this period is mostly discovered from archaeological sites around the Han and the Gum rivers.
The clay-stripe pottery is distributed widely in the second period. The date of this wide distribution is estimated to be between the end of the third to the late second century B.C. By the end of this period, triangular clay-stripe pottery appears.
In the third period, clay-stripe pottery spread all across South Korea. The date is between the middle of the second and the first century B.C.
The round clay-stripe pottery gradually disappeared in the fourth period. The date is between the middle of the first century and the beginning of the Christian Era.
The clay-stripe pottery temporally covers four centuries starting from the fourth century B.C. Although minor regional variations are present, similar morphological changes are noticeable across South Korea in general. This inter-regional similarity is presumably related to the re-dissemination process of the clay-stripe pottery across South Korea after its first introduction to the mid-south region.
