노인의 경로당 참여경험과 경로당 발전방안에 대한 인식 연구: 질적사례연구 접근으로 (Understanding the perspectives and experiences of older people on using and operating Senior Centers and participating leisure programs of Senior Centers and suggesting development plans for Senior Ce)

초록

본 연구는 서울특별시, 광주광역시, 목포시 지역에서 활발히 운영되고 있는 경로당을 대한노인회 지회의 추천을 받아 각 노인의 경로당 참여경험과 경로당 발전방안에 대한 제안을 살펴보았다. 본 연구분석 결과, 경로당 이용 및 운영 참여경험에 대해서는 ‘지인의 권유로 경로당을 이용하게 되었으나 경로당의 유익함으로 자발적으로 운영에 참여’와 ‘경로당은 고령자가 지역사회 주민과 교류하고 상생하며 지역사회의 웃 어르신의 역할을 수행하는 곳’이라는 상위주제가 도출되었고 경로당 여가활동프로그램 참여경험에 대해서는 ‘심리적, 신체적으로 건강한 활동적인 노후를 보내고, 자아정체감 증진과 역량 개발에 도움을 주며 사회 지지체계를 형성해줄 뿐만 아니라 지역사회통합에 기어야 하게 해주는 경로당 여가프로그램’이라는 상위주제가 발견되었다. 이에 연구참여자의 경로당 발전방안에 제안을 연구한 결과, ‘경로당 활성화를 위한 문화수준이 진보된 지역주민통합 여가프로그램 개발’과 ‘경로당의 안정적 재정확보와 보안 및 인력지원 필요’라는 상위주제가 도출되었다. 따라서 경로당은 지역사회 주민들과 함께 공유하며 공존할 수 있는 참여의 공간이면서 노인맞춤돌봄서비스의 거점센터 역할을 할 수 있도록 제도적 지지 기반을 마련해야 할 것이다. 또한, 경로당은 고령화 시대의 변화에 따른 근거리 복지센터로의 역할을 감당하고 노인복지와 지역사회복지를 구분하는 것이 아닌 통합적인 서비스 체계를 구축해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to address how the older people use and operate Senior Centers and participate the leisure program activities and suggest development plans for Senior Centers. For this research. 10 research participants who are joining in the Senior Centers are successfully operated in Seoul. Gwangju. and Mokpo were interviewed. As a result of research findings. the first theme in terms of the use and operation of the Senior Center was derived as ‘a center for the elderly to interact with and coexist with the community residents. and to play the role of the elderly in the community’. As the second theme for the current status of the leisure activity program is that; ‘the elderly people were helping to develop their self-identity as well as to improve the integrations among them by developing a social support system.’ In the result of the analysis on the development plan of the Senior Centers. the third theme was generated; ‘In order to revitalize the Center. it is necessary to focus on the leisure programs preferred by the elderly in the advanced cultural level and develop further the integrated leisure programs which can be used with the local residents. The research participants hope to contribute to the community and develop co-existence relations in the Senior Center.’ Therefore it can be suggested that the Senior Centers should be reestablished as the Social Service Centers shared and coexisted with residents of the community. The Senior Centers also should develop the integrated local welfare services and programs according to the needs of changing society.
