어머니와 교사의 다문화 관련 변인들이 유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향: 위계적 선형모형(HLM)분석을 중심으로 (Multicultural Related Variables of Mothers and Teachers Affecting Children’s Multicultural Awareness: Focusing on HLM Analysis)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 다문화 인식에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 어머니와 교사의 다문화 관련 변인을 탐색하고, 개인 수준의 어머니 변인과 집단 수준의 교사 변인이 유아의 다문화 인식에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인하기 위한 것이다. 연구대상은 부산광역시 및 경상남도에 위치한 유치원 및 어린이집의 만4-5세반 담임교사 42명과 연구 참여에 동의한 학급 내 유아 및 어머니 각각 356명이다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 학급 간 분산 비율과 학급 내 분산 비율을 조사한 결과 유아 다문화 인식이 학습 수준에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타나 연구대상들이 독립적이지 않으며 위계적인 특성을 갖는다는 것을 확인되었다. 개인 수준 변인인 어머니 다문화 인식 변인과 집단 수준 변인인 교사 다문화 태도는 유아의 다문화 인식에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인되었다. 반면, 개인 수준 변인인 어머니의 문화성향과 집단 수준 변인인 교사의 다문화 교수효능감은 유아의 다문화 인식에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니와 교사의 다문화 관련 변인들은 유아 다문화 인식에 상호작용 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 어머니와 교사의 다문화 관련 변인이 유아의 다문화 인식 형성에 상호 독립적임을 시사한다. 또한 어머니의 문화성향과 교사의 다문화 교수효능감보다는 어머니의 다문화 인식과 교사의 다문화 태도가 유아의 다문화 인식 증진을 위한 선행요인임을 실증적으로 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the variables relating to multiple cultures of mothers and teachers that are considered to affect the Multicultural Awareness of the young children and then to confirm how individual level variables and class level variables affect structurally Multicultural Awareness of the young children. The research subject were 42 homeroom teachers of 4, 5-years old classes in kindergartens and daycare centers located in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do and also 356 mothers and their young children who agreed to participate in this study within the classes. The results of this research are as follow: The result of the examination of the ratios from group dispersion between classes and individual dispersion within a group indicates that there is significant difference of early children multicultural awareness as the level of classes and we were able to confirm that study subject were not independent and they had hierarchical characteristics. It is verified that mothers’ multicultural awareness of the individual level variables and teachers’ multicultural attitude of the class level variables significantly affect early children multicultural awareness. On the contrary, it appears that mother cultural disposition of the individual level variables and teacher multicultural teaching efficacy of the class level variables do not have significant effects on early children mulicultural awareness. Also, variables relating to multiple cultures of teacher and mother do not have interaction effects on early children multicultural awareness. These results suggest that the multicultural-related variables of mothers and teachers are mutually independent in forming children's multicultural awareness. Another significance of our research results is that they empirically confirmed that mothers' multicultural awareness and teachers' multicultural attitudes rather than mothers' cultural disposition and teachers' multicultural teaching efficacy are the prerequisites for promoting children's multicultural awareness.
