초록

본 연구는 이탈리아 영화감독 미켈란젤로 안토니오니의 작품에서 네오리얼리즘과 시적 표현법을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법은 피에르 파올로 파졸리니의 시적영화 이론을 기반으로 안토니오니 작품에서 발견되는 시적 표현의 형태와 역할에 대해 조사한다. 그의 영화에서 사용된 연출 기법과방법을 분석하며, 시적 표현이 어떻게 구현되었는지 설명한다. 이 연구의 첫 단계는 네오리얼리즘 특징을 통해 안토니오니 작품의 내면적 리얼리즘 특성을 확인하는 것이다. 또한, 산문영화와 시적영화의구체적 대비로써 내면적 리얼리즘과 시적 표현의 연관성을 살펴본다. 둘째 단계는 안토니오니 영화에서 사용된 촬영 기법과 파졸리니의 자유간접시점쇼트 이론을 연구하며, 영화 <정사>와 <일식>에서사용된 롱테이크 방식의 은유적 표현을 서술한다. 이를 통해 안토니오니의 감정과 생각을 표현하는 방식, 시점 전달의 의미를 알아본다. 셋째 단계에서는 그의 영화 <정사>과 <욕망>에서 보여주는 안토니오니의 서사 구조를 전통적 서사 구조와 비교하며, 비선형적 서사와 열린 결말의 특징을 분석한다. 결과적으로, 이 연구는 안토니오니 영화의 내면적 리얼리즘이 네오리얼리즘과 더불어 롱테이크 촬영방식으로 강조되었음을 확인한다. 그의 작품에서의 비선형적 서사와 열린 결말은 영화를 더욱 추상적이고 시적으로 만들며, 이를 통해 감독의 의도를 전달하고 관객에게 파편적 이미지를 넘어선 사유를제공한다. 이 연구는 안토니오니의 예술적 표현법이 영화 예술에 새로운 시각을 제시하고 현대 영화의제작 및 표현 방식과 서사 구조의 확장에 기여함을 확인한다.

영어초록

This study aims to explore Neorealism and poetic expression in the works of Italian filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni. The research method is based on an investigation of the forms and roles of poetic expression found in Antonioni's films, using Pier Paolo Pasolini's theory of Poetic Cinema. The techniques and methods used in his films will be analyzed, explaining how poetic expression has been implemented. The first stage of this research identifies the characteristics of Introspective Realism in Antonioni’s works by examining the features of Neorealism.
Additionally, it examines the relationship between Introspective Realism and poetic expression through a specific contrast between prose cinema and Poetic Cinema. This part of the study also delves into how Antonioni’s approach has evolved over time and how it diverges from the traditional norms of Italian cinema. The second stage involves the study of cinematographic techniques and Pasolini’s Free Indirect Point-of-view Shot theory in Antonioni’s films, describing the metaphorical expression used in the long-take technique in films such as <The Adventure>and <The Eclipse>. This will reveal Antonioni’s method of expressing emotions and thoughts, and the meaning of conveying perspective. In the third stage, Antonioni’s narrative structure in films like <The Adventure> and <Blow-Up> is compared with traditional narrative structures, analyzing the characteristics of Nonlinear Narrative and open endings. A detailed examination of the layering and complexity of his storytelling provides insight into how Antonioni breaks conventional patterns, challenging traditional viewer expectations. Ultimately, this research confirms that Antonioni’s Introspective Realism was emphasized along with Neorealism through the use of long-take shooting. His works’ Nonlinear Narratives and open endings make the films more abstract and poetic, conveying the director’s intent and offering the audience contemplation beyond fragmented images. This study verifies that Antonioni’s artistic expression offers a new perspective on film art and contributes to the expansion of modern film production, representation, and narrative structure.
