초록

최근 뇌과학의 비약적 발전은 인문, 사회과학, 예술 등의 많은 학문 영역에서 뇌과학과의 접목을 시도하게 하고 있다. 인간의 활동과 관련된 모든 것을 뇌과학적 기반으로 재검토하려는 경향을 보이고 있는 것이다. 교육학에서도 이러한 학제 간 연구를 기반으로 교육현장에서 쏟아져 나오는 다양한 문제들을 해결할 수 있는 새로운 시각과 방법을 찾을 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
과거의 교육에 비해 오늘날 교육은 여러 측면에서 학습자 중심 교육으로 변화하고 있다. 학습자와 학습과정에 대한 체계적인 과학적 연구와 프로그램 개발로 교육의 패러다임이 새롭게 변해가고 있는 것이다. 뇌과학의 입장에서 모든 학습은 뇌에서 이루어진다는 전제 아래 인간의 사고 및 학습 과정에 대한 과학적이고 체계적인 접근 방법을 시도하고 있다. 나아가 뇌의 인지기능 및 구조에 대한 과학적 이해를 바탕으로 학습자의 뇌를 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 적절한 교수 학습 환경을 설계하고 있다.
대순진리회의 종교교육에서도 뇌과학의 연구 결과를 기반으로 한 학습과학이 요청된다. 하지만 현재 뇌과학을 활용한 교육의 개선, 나아가 종교교육적 활용에 대해 기대하기는 어렵다. 이제까지의 연구는 매우 기초적이며 단편적인 연구에 불과했다. 따라서 교육현장에 적용 가능한 보다 실용적이고 직접적인 연구를 위해서는 뇌과학과 대순진리회 종교교육의 접점을 모색할 수 있는 뇌와 마음, 그리고 몸에 대한 다양한 해석적 연구가 우선 필요하다.
또한, 뇌영상 기술의 발전과 연구의 축적으로 이제 다양한 유형의 실증적 연구가 가능해질 것이다. 특정 과제를 학습하는 동안 뇌의 변화를 살펴봄으로써 다양한 영역에서의 개인차 원인을 규명하여 학습장애를 진단 치료하는 과정에 활용될 것이다. 이 같은 변화에 맞추어 대순진리회에서 시행되고 있는 수련의 효과를 측정하여 교육현장에 반영하는 것도 하나의 방안이 될 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 사전적 연구가 축적되어 뇌과학을 활용한 학습․교육의 연계 가능성 및 혁신에 대한 논의가 향후 진행될 수 있기를 기대한다.

영어초록

In the field of brain science, the 21st century is seen as the era of brain and the future of humanity is considered to be dependent on how they utilize the potential of human brain. To meet the recent rapid progress of brain science, many academic areas such as humanities, social science, and arts are trying to graft brain science onto their studies, and to re-examine everything related to human activities from the perspective of brain science. Based on these interdisciplinary researches, it is also expected for educational study to find solutions with new perspectives and methods for various problems produced in the fields of education.
Compared to the conventional form of education, today’s education is changing in many aspects towards learner-centered education. With many systematic and scientific researches and the development of new education programs, the paradigm of education itself is changing into a new one. In the fields of brain science, which premises that all learning process is taking place in the brain, researchers try to find scientific and systematic approach for the process of human thinking and learning. Based on the scientific understanding of cognitive function and structure of the brain, this study tried to plan an appropriate learning environment where learners can use their brain more effectively.
In this trend of the times, religious education of Daesoonjinrihoi must also adapt to the learning science based on the result of brain science researches. However, the current situation imposes difficulties in adapting the brain science to improve education environment and go further to use it for religious education. Until now, studies on this subject have been made only in very basic and fragmentary level. Therefore, in order to carry out more directive and practical research that can be applied in education fields, it is required to first study the brain, mind, and body from various interpretations, which can derive the agreement point between brain science and religious education in Daesoonjinrihoi.
In addition, inferring from the speed of development of brain imaging technology and accumulation of these studies, there will be many researches made in various forms. They could be used for defining the cause of individual differences and for diagnosing and curing of learning disorders in various areas by watching the change occurring in the brain during the process of carrying out learning tasks. One way to apply brain science would be to measure the effect of mind training or spiritual cultivation that are practiced in Daesoonjinrihoi and use it in actual education. From these proactive researches, further discussions on the possibilities of linking brain science to learning and education system and making innovative education can be expected.
