동그라미 그림 노래놀이의 변이(變異)와 전이(轉移) - 돼지그리기노래와 곰돌이그리기노래를 중심으로 - (Transformation and transition of one circle-drawing song play - Focusing on pig drawing song and bear drawing song -)

초록

본 논문에서는 ‘동그라미노래’에 의한 <동그라미 돼지그림노래놀이> 19곡과 <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이> 19곡의 실제사례를 들어 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 유형분석을 통하여 그 변이(變異)와 전이(轉移)양상을 살펴보고, <그림노래놀이>에 전체에 대한 영향 및 우리나라와 일본의 <그림노래놀이>에 대한 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 영향을 그 범위가 제한적이나 파악해보고자 하였다.
‘곰돌이그리기노래’는 미국의 전래 그림그리기동요(drawing nursery rhyme)이고, ‘돼지그리기노래’는 미국의 숫자세기 놀이동요(counting nursery rhyme)인 ‘열 꼬마 인디언(ten little Indian boys)’의 노랫말을 그림에 따라 바꾸어 부르는 ‘개사곡 그림그리기노래((parody drawing song)’이다. 따라서 <동그라미 돼지그림노래놀이>는 일명 <‘열 꼬마 인디언’ 개사곡 동그라미그림노래놀이(parody drawing song play)>라고 할 수 있다. 이 두 가지 ‘그림그리기노래(drawing song)’는 모두 음악적으로는 멜로디(가락, melody)가 각기 다르지만, 노랫말(가사, text)이 ‘동그라미(one circle)’로 시작되는 공통점으로 ‘동그라미 그림그리기노래(one circle song; one circle drawing song)’라고 부른다. 1930년대에 일본어 들어와 우리나라에도 파생된 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 원곡(original song)이라는 사실을 필자는 이 연구를 통하여 확인하게 되었다. 또한 미국에서 파생되어 여러 나라에 전래되고 있는 사실로 미루어, 일본이 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 종주국이 아니고, 이를 받아들여 재생산하여 일본식의 전래 ‘동그라미 그림그리기노래(망마루짱 에카키우타)’ 로 전이되고, 우리나라에도 그 영향을 미치게 되었다는 사실을 알게 된 데에서 이 연구의 의의를 찾아볼 수 있다.
본 연구의 방법은 먼저, 그림그리기노래(drawing song), 동그라미노래, 곰돌이그리기노래, 돼지그리기노래, 동그라미그림노래놀이 등 용어의 개념을 정리한 다음, ‘동그라미노래’에 의한 <동그라미그림노래놀이> 실제사례 38곡을 ‘돼지그리기노래’에 의한 19곡과 ‘곰돌이그리기노래’에 의한 19곡으로 나누어 <그림노래놀이>의 3가지 핵심동인(노래·노랫말·그림)을 중심으로 각각의 특징과 상호의 공통점과 차이점을 찾아내어 변화유형의 양상을 살펴보았다.
연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다: 그림의 모양에 따라 <동그라미 돼지그림노래놀이> 실제사례 13곡은 몸통과 꼬리가 오른쪽을 향한 원형과 3가지 변화유형(ⓐ원형의 변화형; ⓑ몸통이 얼굴 아래로 향애 서있는 모양; ⓒ몸통 안에 얼굴이 들어가는 정면에서 바라본 모양)으로 나누어진다: 원형(original: ①); 변화유형(variation)ⓐ(②③④⓹); 변화유형ⓑ: ⑥; 변화유형ⓒ(⑦⑧⑨⑩; 변화유형ⓓ: 다른 <동그라미 동물그림노래놀이>로의 전이유형 6곡(⑲); ‘곰돌이그리기노래’에 의한 <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이>의 유형은 ⑳원형과 다음의 5가지 변화유형(ⓔ,ⓕ,ⓖ,ⓗ,ⓘ)으로 분류표기하여 비교·분석되었다: 미국을 비롯한 영어권지역의 실제사례 3곡(㉑㉒㉓)은 바나나 모양으로 웃는 입을 묘사하는 변화유형ⓔ으로; 한국의 <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이> 실제사례 3곡(㉔㉕㉖)은 지역화 된 변화유형ⓕ로; 얼굴부분에 인중(人中) 그림이 첨가된 실제사례 3곡(㉗㉘㉙)은 얼굴묘사가 세분화된 변화유형ⓖ로; 일본의 ‘동그라미((まんまゐちゃん: 망마루짱)’ 실제사례 8곡(㉚㉛㉜㉝㉞㉟㊱㊲)은 지역화되어 전이된 변화유형ⓗ로; 독일 <그림그리기놀이(Malspiele)> ‘아기 곰(Bärchen)’ 사례 1곡()은 3가지 종류의 동그라미와 독일 전래 ‘얼굴그리기놀이(Mondgesicht: 달님 얼굴)‘가 융합되어 지역화 된 변화유형ⓘ로 분류되었다. <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이> 실제사례 19곡 중에서 얼굴만 묘사한 ㉗과 동그라미로만 그리는 ㉛과 을 제외하고, 나머지 16곡(⑳㉑㉒㉓㉔㉕㉖㉘㉙㉚㉜㉝㉞㉟㊱㊲)은 팔다리를 그리는 노랫말에 숫자 6이 활용되어 <문자그림노래놀이>의 <숫자그림노래놀이>유형에 속한다.
또한 각 사례별로 번안노랫말과 원어노랫말을 병기하고 그림그리기과정을 수록함으로써 전이되는 변화의 과정을 이해하는 데에 도움을 주고자 하였다. 또한 <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이> 실제사례 19곡의 유형과 그 특징 등의 전이양상을 일거에 파악하고자 <표 5>로 정리하여 제시하였다.
이 논문의 연구대상인 <동그라미그림노래놀이> 38곡의 실제사례들은 필자가 채집하거나 검색어 ‘one circle song’과 ‘pig drawing song’, ‘bear drawing song’ 및 ‘에카키우타(繪猫き歌: えかきうた)’로 인터넷 you-tube와 blog 동영상에서 수집하고, 문헌에서 발췌하였다. 노랫말이 거의 유사하여 제목이 같은 경우가 많아 각각의 차별성을 명백히 하고자 제목에 고유번호를 붙이고 그림과 노랫말을 정리·번안하여 영문 및 일본어 원문과 함께 수록하였다. 노랫말에 따른 그림그리기과정의 그림은 실제사례에 수록된 것을 그대로 사용하거나, 그림이 불분명한 곡은 원본을 바탕으로 손으로 그려 스캔하거나 컴퓨터로 제작하였다.
본 연구의 의의는 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 개념을 정립하고, ‘돼지그리기노래’와 ‘곰돌이노래’를 중심으로 실제사례 38곡의 그림과 노랫말 및 악보를 정리하여 소개하였으며; <동그라미그림노래놀이>를 원형과 비교하여 변이된 양상에 따라 변화유형으로 분석하였으며; 그 전이양상을 파악한 데에 있다. 본 연구에서 <동그라미그림노래놀이>의 유형분석을 통해 나타난 전이양상은 다음의 5가지로 요약해 볼 수 있다: 첫째, 점진적으로 ‘열 꼬마 인디언’ 개사곡인 ‘돼지그리기노래(pig drawing song: one circle song)‘와 ’곰돌이그리기노래(bear drawing song)' 2가지 종류의 <동그라미그리기노래(one circle song)'에 의한 <동그라미그림노래놀이>가 돼지와 곰돌이 그림뿐만 아니라, 다양한 종류의 동물로 전이되어가고 있다; 둘째, <동그라미 곰돌이그림노래놀이>에서 팔다리를 묘사하는 노랫말 ‘6x6 36, 6x6 마술(magic)'이 다리가 달린 다른 동물뿐만 아니라, 사람의 팔다리묘사의 전형적인 노랫말로 전이되어, <동물그림노래놀이>와 <사람그림노래놀이>에 큰 영향을 미쳤음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 오늘날에 이르러 인터넷을 통하여 미국뿐만 아니라, 우리나라를 비롯한 일본, 중국, 대만 등의 아시아지역과 영어권 지역을 넘어 글로벌화 되어가는 현상을 파악하게 되었다; 넷째, <그림노래놀이>는 디지털기술과 AI 및 인터넷의 발달로 더 이상 ‘입에서 입으로 전해지는 구전(口傳)이나 문헌을 통해서 전해지는 전래놀이’의 범주에서 벗어나는 본질적으로 새로운 전이양상을 나타내고 있다; 다섯째, 한국과 일본의 근대 <동물그림노래놀이>와 <사람그림노래놀이>는 미국의 <동그라미그림노래놀이>에서 파생되었으며, 문헌에서 발췌한 한국의 실제사례에서 일본의 영향을 노랫말과 그림을 통해서 파악할 수 있었다.
본 연구의 미비점을 말한다면, <동그라미그림노래놀이>가 <얼굴그림노래놀이>와 <사람그림노래놀이>로 전이되는 변화유형의 실제사례를 수록하여 살펴보고자 하였으나 지면의 제한으로 실행하지 못하였으며; 필자의 <동그라미 돼지그림노래놀이> 유치원 종일반수업 활용에 대한 상세한 서술은 본 논문의 목적과 지면의 제한으로 후속연구에서 다루고자 한다. 따라서 후속연구에서 위의 두 가지 미비점이 보완되어야 하겠다. 또한 <동그라미그림노래놀이>를 놀이중심의 유아교육을 위한 융복합자료로 활용하는 방안에 대한 연구도 이어져야 할 것이다. 그 밖에 <동물그림노래놀이>와 <사물그림노래놀이>가 포함된 <그림노래놀이> 전반에 대한 고찰이 연구과제로 남아있다.

영어초록

In this paper the types of <one circle-drawing song play> were analyzed by taking 19 actual examples of <one circle-pig drawing song play> and 19 <one circle-bear drawing song play>, and the aspect of transformation and transition to the other <drawing song play> was investigated. In addition, although the scope is limited, the influence on the drawing song play of Korea and Japan was examined.
The 'pig drawing song' is a parody drawing song, in which the lyrics of ‘ten little indian boys’, an American counting nursery rhyme, are changed according to the drawings, the bear drawing song is a traditional American drawing nursery rhyme. Even though these two drawing songs have different melodies in musical terms, both songs are called <one circle song: one circle-drawing song> because the lyric start with 'one circle' in common. In this study, I could find out the original song of Korean 'one circle drawing song' is derived from the one introduced to Japan in 1930s. This study can be meaningful in a sense we could find out the following facts. As the 'one circle drawing song' was derived from U. S. and introduced to many countries, Japan is not a birthplace of the 'one circle drawing song'. Japan was also introduced the 'one circle drawing song' by U. S. and the song came down to Japnes-style 'one circle drawing song(as known as Mang Maruzzang Ekaki Uta) which influenced Korean 'one circle drawing song'.
The method of this study is to first define the concepts of terms such as 'drawing song', 'one circle song', 'pig drawing song', 'bear drawing song', and 'one circle-drawing song play'. After defining the concept of the terminology, the 38 actual examples of 'circle drawing song play' by 'one circle song' were categorized into 19 songs by 'pig drawing song' and 19 by 'bear drawing song'. Then the types of variation focusing on the 3 core elements(song·lyric·picture) were examined by finding their characters, common features, and differences.
The results of the study can be summarized as follows: Depending on the shape of the picture, the 19 actual examples of the <one circle-pig drawing song play> are divided into the original form with the body and tail facing the right and 3 variations(ⓐ variation of the original form; ⓑ the shape of the body standing toward the bottom of the face; ⓒ front-view shape with the face inside the body): the original type(①); ⓐ variation(②③④⓹); ⓑ variation: ⑥; ⓒ variation(⑦⑧⑨⑩); ⓓ transition type: 6 examples(⑲).
There were two kinds of 'bear drawing song', i. e. 2/4 beat song and 3/4 beat song, but the 2/4 beat song disappeared, and only the 3/4 beat song is transmitted. The types of <one circle-bear drawing song play> by 'bear drawing song' were classified into 5 types of variation(ⓔ,ⓕ,ⓖ,ⓗ,ⓘ): variationⓔ: 3 songs(⑳㉑㉒) are examples from U. S. and other English-speaking countries depicting a smiling mouth in the shape of a banana; variationⓕ: 3 songs(㉓㉕) are examples of Korean <one circle-bear drawing song play>; variationⓖ: 3 songs(㉖㉗㉘) are examples in which the drawing of philtrum was added to the face; variationⓗ: 8 songs(㉙㉚㉛㉜㉝㉞㉟㊱) are examples of the Japanized 'one circle drawing song(まんまゐちゃん)'; variationⓘ: 1곡(㊲) is a German drawing play 'baby bear'(Bärchen) by 3 kinds of circle.
The 'pig drawing song' and the 'bear drawing song' were mutually influenced, and in the process of being transferred, they were fused or influenced other drawing song plays, i. e. on <drawing song play of animal>, <drawing song play of face> and <drawing song play of people>.
The 38 actual examples of <one circle-drawing song play>, which are the subjects of this study, were collected by the author or collected from internet you-tube and blog videos using the keyword 'one circle song' and 'pig drawing song', and extracted from literature. In order to clarify differentiation from each other because the lyrics are almost similar, a serial number is attached to the title, pictures and lyrics are arranged, rewritten, and recorded together with the original English or Japanese text. The pictures in the drawing process according to the lyrics were used as they were in the actual examples, or songs with unclear pictures were drawn by hand based on the original, and scanned or produced with a computer.
The significance of this study is as follows. First, it is to establish the concept of <one circle-drawing song play>. Secondly, it is to introduce the pictures, lyrics, and music scores of the 38 actual cases focusing on 'the pig drawing song' and 'the bear drawing song'. Lastly, it is to analyze the variation types and the transfer aspects of <one circle-drawing song play> by comparing its original form and variations.
This study tried to examine actual examples of the type of variations in which the <one circle-drawing song play> is transferred to <drawing song play of face> and <drawing song play of people>, but it was not implemented due to the limitations of the paper. Therefore, in the follow-up study, it is necessary to supplement it and consider the overall <drawing song play> including <drawing song play of animal> and <drawing song play of things>.
