연결실체내 감사인의 일치성이 자회사재무제표 감사품질에 미치는 영향 (The Relationship between Auditor Conformity and Subsidiary Company's Audit Quality)

초록

본 논문은 연결실체 입장이 아닌 자회사 입장에서의 감사인일치성과 자회사 감사품질의 관련성을 분석한 연구이다. 실증분석을 위하여 자회사 입장에서의 감사인일치성의 대용치로 감사인일치여부 더미 변수를 사용하였으며 감사품질의 대용치로는 성과조정재량적발생액의 절대값을 사용하였다. 실증분석의 결과는 첫째, 감사인일치성변수와 감사품질의 상호작용변수를 포함하지 않은 모형의 경우 감사인일치성은 감사품질과 유의한 관련성을 나타내지 못하였다. 둘째, 감사품질과 감사인일치성의 상호작용변수를 고려한 모회사와 자회사 감사인의 일치여부가 자회사재무제표 이익의 질에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증분석결과 감사인일치성과 BIG4의 상호작용변수의 경우 성과조정 재량적발생액의 절대값(PM_DA_ABS)과 유의한 음의 관련성을 나타내었다. 셋째, 자회사입장에서의 감사인일치성을 더욱 세분하여 살펴보기 위하여 더미변수를 이용하여 감사인일치성이 자회사재무제표 이익의 질에 미치는 영향의 추가적인 실증분석한 결과 모회사 감사인과 자회사 감사인이 일치하는 경우로서 모두 같은 BIG4감사인인 경우의 더미(CO_PB_SB)에서 자회사재무제표 이익의 질과 유의한 음의 관련성을 보여주었으며 모회사 감사인과 자회사 감사인이 일치하지 않는 경우로서 모회사 감사인과 자회사 감사인이 모두 BIG4인 경우의 더미(NCO_PB_SB)에서는 자회사재무제표 이익의 질과 유의한 양의 관련성을 보여주었다. 본 논문은 연결실체가 아닌 자회사 입장에서 최초로 감사인일치성의 감사품질영향성을 실증하였다는데 그 의의를 가진다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between auditor conformity and subsidiary company's audit quality not from the aspect of consolidated entity but from the aspect of a subsidiary company. In order to empirically analyze the relationship, an auditor conformity dummy variable was used as a proxy for the auditor conformity from the aspect of subsidiary company. And as a proxy for audit quality, the absolute value of performance adjusted discretionary accrual(PM_DA_ABS) was used. Study findings are as follows: First, in case of the model that did not comprise auditor conformity variables and audit quality interaction variables, the auditor conformity had no significant influence upon the audit quality. Second, as for the influence of auditor conformity between a parent company and a subsidiary company, in which the interaction variable of audit quality and auditor conformity was taken into account, upon the quality of profits in subsidiary company's financial statements, the interaction variable of auditor conformity and BIG4 had significant negative influence upon the absolute value of performance adjusted discretionary accrual (PM_DA_ABS). Third, in order to further examine auditor conformity by subdividing it from the aspect of a subsidiary company, the influence of auditor conformity upon the quality of profits in subsidiary company's financial statements was additionally looked into using the dummy variable. When auditors for a parent company and a subsidiary company were the same and they were all the same auditors of BIG4, the dummy (CO_PB_SB) had significant negative influence upon the quality of profits in subsidiary company's financial statements. On the other hand, when auditors for a parent company and a subsidiary company were not the same and they were all the same auditors of BIG4, the dummy (NCO_PB_SB) had significant positive influence upon the quality of profits in subsidiary company's financial statements. This study seems to be meaningful in that it empirically examined the influence of auditor conformity upon audit quality not from the aspect of consolidated entity but from the aspect of a subsidiary company for the first time.
